Serious In Prehistoric, Ancient, and Medieval times, did any women ever live alone and completely independently?

I know that a man could always live by himself independently all alone while surviving in the wilderness. Think of hermits and monks who never married. Or just any man who lived in the wilderness all by himself.

But was the same ever true of women in Ancient, prehistoric, medieval, etc. times?

I doubt it. Just look at most other ape species, its usually one or a few alpha males hoarding all the foids while most other apes go out empty
