I'm 25 and still a virgin. I know that if I want sex with a woman I have to pay for it, otherwise I have no chance.
I'm very afraid of STIs, of course I plan on having sex with a condom, no oral sex, no kissing, no pussy licking.
Can I still catch something? How can I protect myself?

You solved your problem. There are a few STIs you can catch even with condom but the chances are very low. You have a higher chance of being struck by lightning on a sunny day.

The main one to worry about is herpes. Since it is spread by skin-to-skin contact, condoms aren't really effective as a precautionary measure.

The risk is never 0, I think even condoms can rip or tear. Same with driving a car, you never know if you'll reach your destination alive. Airbags have killed just as many people as they saved, etc etc.

I'm 28 and didn't even know that, speaks volumes, doesn't it?

Can you catch it when you shake someone's hand?

Herpes is particularly insidious, as it can still be transmitted even when there are no visible signs of an outbreak as it goes dormant within the upper layers of the epidermis between sores outbreaks...and a lot of people do not know they have it, and most STI tests do not test for herpes.

In fact, the only reliable test there is for herpes is something called the Western blot PCR test.

Hypothetically, yes, if you have an open sore on your hand, but it is much rarer. What is more likely to happen is if you touch an open herpes sore and then touch an open wound or so on you.

As a precautionary measure you should wash your hands after any finger contact "down there" and avoid touching any open sores you see in the area.

:worryfeels: I bet most people younger than me know all this.

Actually, no, a lot of people don't as herpes is not really talked about nearly as much as other STDs and a lot of people are not aware of how common it is as 25% of the adult human population is estimated to have it and health professionals seem to take the attitude of "Well, you are probably going to get it anyway and the outbreaks are not that severe in most people, so why worry?"

That’s a scary disease, even touching a prostitute then might not help and there hasn’t been a cure for it, condoms don’t even work that well

There's HPV and Herpes which are fairly easy to get tbh ngl. With a condom it's very low risk you will catch anything. You could ask her for a test or when she got tested last but she'll probably think you're wanting bare sex asking those questions.
