I’m learning languages that can give me better opportunities in life: German, Japanese and I plan to learn Scandinavian languages when I get a good understanding of Deustch

They should make foreign languages a totally elective subject where you get to pick the one language you actually want to learn and not a single mandatory language class for the school year.

No real practical reason to learn german unless you have a passion and enjoy the language itself (something that foids tend to do for some reason, I don't see why one would study a language just for "fun" and not for practical reasons, or prefer a language over another, but foids often do it).

I agree. I've seen a few International job offers that required german, but most of the time it's not necessary even in job offers from germany. I still regret a little choosing to not study any extra foreign languages in high school (they offered french, german and spanish), but thankfully my mother tongue and english have been enough.
