Japanese is ranked among one of, if not, the hardest languages to learn as a native English speaker and takes 2,000+ (more like 4,000+) hours to become fluent according to the US Foreign Institution [1]. Successful acquisition of a foreign language is already extremely low, and even lower for Japanese; just look at the pass rates for the JLPTs (Japanese languange profienciey tests). N5 (the easiest level) had the highest pass rate, which was barely over 50% as of July 2025 [2]. Importantly, while intelligence is correlated with language learning outcomes, personality traits actually explain more variation in language learning outcomes than raw cognitive abilities [3] (traits include openness, conscientious, and extroversion which I doubt many incel users would score high on, but my point still stands, raw intelligence is not the biggest predictor of successful language acquisition).
