I've been watching this livestream of bears eating salmon in Alaska very closely lately and I noticed just how bad things are for bearcels and bear-lets. They are always getting displaced by the few large alpha male bears who take all the best fishing spots while the smaller and older bears struggle. I'm pretty sure only the biggest alpha males get to breed to.
Here you have the livestream:
Right now there are only two bears eating, but sometimes there are really large numbers of bears. You can look hours back and sometimes it's very interesting. You can often see alpha males fighting among each other or displacing smaller bears. Most bears are bearcels and struggle with salmonmaxxing and fatmaxxing because the big alpha males are always on the best fishing spots and as a result they get even bigger and bigger.
Sometimes they film a particular bear more closely and I can see in his eyes that he is struggling to cope.
Life is really tough for them.
It's a cool stream though. Pretty amazing that you can get to watch this live.
