Last week I took a flight to Arizona to see the Grand Canyon. For my entire life the Grand Canyon has been psyched up as this once in a Lifetime opportunity that you need to see once before you die. Since my days are numbered (I’m 47) I wanted to see it. I am not sure if I hyped it up in my mind too much, but once I actually saw the canyon I felt nothing. It was just an empty hole in the ground. All I felt was humiliation from getting mogged by the men around me and the couples. There is a hole in my soul that will never be repaired. I’m too cynical now, too depressed and angry. This is all that’s left in old age, a hollow life devoid of meaning.
