Basically, as soon as your organism digests the food, it starts searching for other elements inside your body in order to keep your whole system functioning. During that period, autophagy is activated. Now, what is autophagy? To put it simply, it's the body "eating itself", as in cells destroying other unhealthy cells and reducing your insulin resistance to make sure your organism is working properly.
I remember reading a comment from this guy who had a serious problem regarding his stomach. His doctor recommended him to eat, but instead he intermittent fasted for three days. Result: his stomach healed itself in no time. It isn't surprising, because the body is a machine that fights to keep you alive as much as possible.
Just drink water and do not eat anything for three days. You are allowed to go to the bathroom and do anything else, just let your body heal itself. You get slowly when you're eating because the system is digesting the calories. Do not eat and see how powerful the body system can be.
