Could be partly due to waking up just sucking for me (it actually hurts mentally and emotionally to regain consciousness every day), but even independent of general morning cortisol spikes, I feel like the daylight just worsens my existential dread compared to the darkness of nighttime.
It really just comes down to what it symbolizes to me ig. Daylight reminds you that the world is awake, and that it exists. Whereas darkness makes the world feel paused, and therefore makes you feel insulated from it.
I honestly just wish I could detach. Float away into dreams never to return. I’m inherently incompatible with humanity (and subhumanity) and any soycieties it builds. I wish I could either exist exclusively in an idealized internal landscape of my own, or not exist at all
