I cannot stand or take works that depict any type or kind of foids even within the frame of an imaginary scenario or a concept as powerful and dominating.
it just makes everything looks silly and repulsive at best. I tried to read or wacth frieren this shit is filled with whore midget elf foids who are ridiculously overpowered and smug about it with the kudere bullshit manners (any work that employs dere types or characterstics for building a character is generic and childish as fuck)

I think they've gotten worse at balancing the personalities of female characters, and also these works that feature hard ass females are more popular now than before.

The classic anime girls can be really strong actually, it's just that their personalities were always balanced in some way, with some amount of psychological or emotional vulnerability, and whatever personality traits they had, they could never be "bitchy" in the way that modern women are, at least not in a serious way. Think about Strike Witches and Kemono Friends and stuff like that with girls that fight and are not just sitting around doing nothing.

But now it seems it's more popular to have totally flawless female characters, which not only makes them less likeable, but can easily turn them into Mary Sues, like the totally flawless Rei character from the new Star Wars films, so strong in every respect that it stretches credibility to its limits. It's like japs are trying to have characters like that now in their manga and anime, almost like they want to be more like whitey instead of just doing what has worked for decades.

I think the best example of this is Kill la Kill. Strong female cast but not flawless in the slightest, makes it very enjoyable to watch and there are many moments of reflection like in episode 8 iirc, dedicated to showing how the mankanshoku household gets torn apart by achieving wealth and ends up rooting for Mako to kill Ryuuko, that was some good shit.

Depends on how they do it. Whatever makes foid characters less of the "sweet cuties nobody should hurt" and more characters that can actually get pummeled a bit and take some shit is good for me.
