Depression + overwork got the best of me so I can't bring myself to watch/read anything, so I'll write about them instead. Do share your own likes and dislikes, I am always curious and maybe our opinions align on some or clash. I'll do my best to not spoil too much.

Homunculus (Manga) - The one manga I think every blackpilled incel should read.
The premise is that this banker (I don't remember the term, but he basically makes businesses go bankrupt to buy em for a few pennies), Nakoshi, decides to quit and sell everything he possesses except his clothes and car, living in it on a street between said bank and a park populated by homeless people. Later in the manga, we're introduced to Nakoshi's past: born an ugly bastard, he manages to find his looksmatch and is happy until he isn't anymore, decides to hardmaxx through surgery and leaves her girlfriend behind. His life shifts completely, a whole 360: from being bullied and ridiculed to being successful in just about everything, money, friends, job, women. He becomes a materialistic faggot, until he realizes what he has become and turns his back on that world, but is unable to leave it completely (there is a lot of visual storytelling in this manga, a lot of symbolism and it is extremely well-done, particularly because the art is just top-notch).
The actual plot is that some closeted faggot Itou Manabu offers Nakoshi a wad of money for him to drill holes in his skull in order to study the concept of homunculi; as a consequence, Nakoshi starts seeing shit like a schizophrenic, but he's actually seeing people's deepest traumas or subconscious (eg he sees a local Yakuza boss as an armored child, and that's because when he was a kid he accidentally killed his best friend and then built a metaphorical armor over his life). It is interesting and, most importantly, well executed, until the ending (but it is not news that mangakas cannot end their shit right). I remember reading it in a night when I felt particularly depressed back when I was 16, with Take on Me playing in the background, and dude, that song fucking fit the art so much I don't know how to explain it, but it made the experience better. 8/10
3 Days of Happiness / I Sold My Life for 10000 Yen per Year (Manga/LN) - Reflections on time, human worth and connections.
A failure NEET, Kusunoki, decides to sell his lifetime for money to a shady business, and he's so much of a failure that the lady at the counter, Miyako, tells him his 30 remaining years have been evaluated at only 10000 Yen. Basically, in those 30 years, not only he wouldn't have accompliced anything, but he simply wouldn't have done shit in any way at all. Still, he decides to sell it and only retain 3 months. The next day, he finds Miyako in front of his front door, telling him he'll watch over him for these 3 months, to ensure he doesn't kill himself or do anything bad to others.
The story in itself is one of the best things I've ever read. I think determinism is a constant, but I love to think that maybe in some other universe free will is actually a thing, and people are able to defy expectations and actually make the most of those 3 months, and those 3 days. Honestly I cannot put to words how I feel about this manga, it is very dear to me because having read some of Seneca's works on the topic of time, I can see those same ideas in the manga, and it makes me cry a lot. This is also one of those few mangas that end well, the ending is amazing, actually, everything about this is amazing. It is a bit of a tearjerker and has romance elements so if you dislike those, you've been warned, but it's honestly something everyone should experience by himself. Consider reading the LN the manga adapts if you like it. 9/10
One Room of Happiness (Manga) - A bit on the heavier side
This 14 year old girl runs away from home and fakes being kidnapped by his late 20s "stalker". The premise was enough to hook me, and it definitely, definitely didn't betray my expectations. It explores themes such as parental abuse, homelessness, bullying, human bonds and happiness in a way that is not trivial nor overly dramatical (besides the ending.............................. we don't talk about the ending). Midway through we're introduced to the Matsubase detective agency, and I have to say, the two detectives do not feel redundant at all, they enhance the main characters.
The girl and her "stalker" develop their relationship from being opportunistic to genuine, and we also see both of them's backgrounds, thought processes, and honestly, for some it may contain a lot of thought bubbles and on screen narration but I didn't find it a burden. In fact, I liked how a lot of times the thoughts didn't align with the actions. The girl is never at ease, always has her guard up even with the "stalker" and it is evident that it is a consequence of her suffering immense abuse both at home and at school. If you were abused in a heavy way by your parents maybe you want to skip this, I wasn't abused to this degree but I definitely felt it in my gut when those scenes popped up. The ending is very melodramatic and feels rushed, unfortunately, but YMMV. 9/10
OreGaIru / My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong, as I Expected (Manga/LN) - fuck the anime adaptation, fuck studio feel; best romcom I ever read
I still enjoy romcoms because I use fiction to escape the shitty reality I am forced to live every day. That said, I watched (and then read) Oregairu when I was still way more immature (think I was 17), and I never expected it would impact me so much. The plot is, a blackpilled incel finds an autistic girl and marries her (jfl but not that much of a stretch).
Still, being a high school romcom, there are a lot of high school romcom tropes (except the beach here is just a riverside). This romcom is not like many other shoujo slops that are shallow and "I can fix him" trope (looking at you, Kaoru Hana). I'd best describe Oregairu as a psychological anime with romcom baseline: yes, the fil rouge is the romantic relationship between the two main characters, Hachiman and Yukino (and NOT Yui, fuck you studio feel), but it explores so much more, the human psyche, its contradictions and most importantly, it gives redemption to a character like Hikigaya Hachiman, who, were it not for his based teacher Hiratsuka Shizuka, would be here on .is with us ("I hate nice girls" is maybe the most famous of his rants/speeches).
I understand why some might be turned off by a romcom, but if anyone is interested, for the love of God do NOT watch the anime. The studio that animated S2 and S3 did a terrible job at it, like a fucking terrible job, cutting important chapters and moments between Hachiman and Yukino to make it look like Yui was a better fit for Hachiman, something that is disgusting to anyone with a brain to watched/read it. 9/10
Disliked:
Scum's Wish (Manga) - Not really disliked but fell off after the first 20 chapters.
The plot is, these two idiot high schoolers get together and fuck a ton because their targets, the boy's teacher and the girl's home tutor, are dating each other and don't meet their love.
It isn't a bad concept per sé, but after the 4th time I see these two fuck I just start dissociating from the reading and imagine myself dropping a nuke on them.
The best fucking part of this manga is the ending, because nobody gets what they want, and I am fucking HAPPY that none of these mfrs got what they wanted. The home tutor is an oofy doofy betacuck, the teacher is a literal slut who enjoys being a slut, and the fmc indulges in lesbian sex with her "best friend" because said best friend has feelings for her.
I think I would've liked this manga with less sex between the two, but maybe it is an artistic choice that makes sense and I am just a bitter cunt (very probable). Every character in here is a cunt, every last one of them, which is something I personally like. Overall, it isn't too long and it deals mainly with the theme of unmet desire. I hear the anime adaptation is good, idk personally. 5/10
Darling in the FranXX (Anime) - the manga fixes most things wrong with the anime, and has a lot of nude scenes.
Listen. We all know what is wrong with this anime, the only thing I have to say is: Episodes 17-24 never existed. 4/10
Kimi ni Aisarete Itakatta (Manga) - fell off harrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd but at the same time author is a foid who suffered every abuse imaginable so I can cut off some slack.
Extremely bullied high school girl living in a toxic household falls in love with chad and ruins his life, with said chad not recognizing it and abandoning his friends and his baseball team. It was good until Chapter 9-10 with the rape scene (lunatic fmc is jealous some bitch wants to steal the man she loves so she, I'm not joking, pays his delinquent simp friend to go with his crew and kidnap and gang rape her). The acme in my opinion is in the representation of the aftermath of said rape, it feels very plausible and honestly bone-chilling. That said it then loses a lot of the shock value and becomes a plain shoujo "insecure FMC" manga. Shiruka Bakaudon earlier works were batshit insane and carried a huge shock value within them, so I expected the same level in this manga but it didn't happen. She writes to process her traumas though so who am I to judge her. 5/10
Mirai Nikki (Manga) - this is the worst piece of shit I've ever read bruv
the best characters were the two lovers Marco and whatever the foid's name was (5th diary holders iirc), they incarnated the ideal of true love and I appreicated that, then the 4th (the foid in the cult) and Minene but like, HOLY SHIT this manga sucks. The premise is 10/10, a competition to decide who will be the new God of the universe, but man. MAN. I do not wish anyone to read this in 2026 if they are above the age of 12, because it's the most pretentious, silly, nonsensically edgy piece of shit ever. Like why the fuck does he kill all his friends at the end?????? Why the fuck does he simp so hard for Yuno, just cuz she gave him some pussy??????????????? Like bro, and what the fuck was that twist with the helper being an evil creature from another reset, actually, this whole thing about resets is the most retarded piece of shit ever, honestly it is executed SO fucking bad I wanna bleach my eyes. I'll probably reread it for shits and giggles though, a hate read if you will. 1/10
These are 4 mangas that I like and 4 that I don't like that much. Let me hear from you now!!!
