Humans are gullible and susceptible creatures. They're incapable of rational thinking and free thinking. They just blindly believe anything they are told. The fact that so many people believe in the religion their society teaches them exemplifies this. Yeah i know there are irreligious people or even agnostics/atheists in the world but those people notice all the other irreligious people around them as irreligion is becoming common and anti-religious propaganda is shoved down our throats on the internet all the time.
Do you really think that society is more tolerant these days or accepting these days compared to back in the day? GAHAHAAHAA! no they ain't. society just new groups of people who they are COMMANDED and FORCED to accept/tolerate. Humans don't care about morals or kindness. They don't value life. They don't value other people's wellbeing. They just do whatever society tells them out of fear of ostracism or even punishment. They are incapable of free thinking.
For example, the REAL reason people accept gay people now is because they're TAUGHT to. In todays world, if you're homophobic, you'll be ostracized and hated while back in the day, you'd just be seen as a jerk at worst. The people who accept gay people these days would've hated them if they lived in the 50s. Being in a society that hates or ostracizes someone who thinks this way is also the reason why today's white people respect black people while back in the day they would've been racist ( @ThoughtfulCel ). There are things that used to be tolerated or accepted that aren't anymore. For example, age differences were very accepted and also very common in the early-mid 20th century, but then in the 1970s that all began to change. Nowadays an age difference like 18 and 21 could face stigma while back in the day, 18 and 25 wasn't even remotely frowned upon. Also, virginity used to be less stigmatized back in the day. Although women were seen as inferior if they were in their older 20s and still didn't marry yet, men and women who were still virgins were more accepted. Virgin shaming men was common back then even in the 1800s but it was condoned by the system and waiting until marriage was still seen as good whether you were male or female. Nowadays, waiting until marriage is seen as freaky and if you're 20 or older and a virgin, people will laugh at you (even virgin women are ridiculed these days).
People today aren't kind or understanding. In fact, studies show that college students today are significantly less empathetic than college students in the late 20th century. People aren't more accepting of mental health these days. All those NPCs who post about mental health awareness on social media are just posting that shit because it's "trendy" to post about it now or so they can virtue signal. They don't ever actually help the mentally ill other than posting a mental health post once in a blue moon on some awareness week that they hear about it. And these people maybe mean depression or some shit not schizophrenia or some shit. These are the same people who say mass shootings aren't a mental health issue when they clearly are. These people who say we shouldn't stigmatize depression will still stigmatize depressed people depending on what you're depressed about. If you're depressed about some breakup from 2 days ago, everyone shows empathy, but if you're depressed because you're short or because you're a KHHV at 30, nobody shows empathy, and people trivialize your problems at best or call you whiny or insult you at worst.
People today aren't tolerant or accepting, they just are tolerant or accepting towards whoever they're taught to be tolerant/accepting towards.
