How to thaw butter?

I'm making grilled cheese and my butter is too cold to spread.

I put a blob in the pan and when melted rub one side of the sandwich bread to butter it. Then stick the whole thing on the dry side and swish it around to absorb the rest of the butter.

Then I cover it while it Cooke's.

put the butter in the pan, let it melt then put the sandwiches in the pan

Take it out a while before you want to use it. If it's just refrigerated only needs to be some minutes. Or just take off the butter you need and let that come to temperature on a plate. Quickest way to do it would be to give it 5 second blasts in a microwave tbh. Just dont go overboard with it.
