Maybe I’ll enter abandoned places in the U.S. to search for valuables? Enter abandoned mines? Search for gold or other valuable minerals in forests, deserts, etc.?

Any ideas on how to search for valuables for money?

Search for treasure chests in dungeons

I’ve heard they contain gold and other loot

they were abandoned for reasons.

That is a good idea.

Ask @Emba
He used to collect rare crystals and such and sell them for a pretty penny.

I will see whether I can do the same here in le Germany for big shekels.

Idk I’ve watched YouTubers in Europe do metal detecting and find all kinds of relics and old artifacts, this guy discovered a whole chest full of Roman coins off the coast of Spain

Wow really? How do they do that? What tools do they use?

You should go to the tip/scrap/junkyard and see what you can find there. Usually I just go to the charity boxes and take from there. Someone left a 60hz monitor in perfect condition the other month. Last time I went I found an LED projector.

Oh nice. Here in the U.S., I don’t know how I’ll do that though.

From what ive heard, there's plenty of quartz around there... As well as other stuff... You'd have to research it.

In southwestern USA?

I once found Mexican gold in a rotted cabin near a spring fed creek in America. I figure it was being used as Confederate money.

Stuff like this is good too.

But you have to know the values of the stuff.

The trick is to always be looking for value every day.

When walking don't stare at one spot, scan the whole area! Look for clues that say: "good stuff here!"

High quality shit is usually found with more high quality shit!

Whatever you look for, you will find.

Oh wow that’s awesome. What state was that in?

That’s great. Where exactly are those places in cities or towns?

Yes. That’s exactly what I do lol
In fairgrounds, I’ve stumbled upon some valuable items

Yes. That makes sense.

The mindset is the opposite of the loser mindset.

Losers lose...

Finders find...

In south west there's all.kind of stuff besides that. It just depends on the areas geology.
Yes. I have heard. I think I will need a four wheel drive vehicle to traverse or move around in the deserts here. Do you know of any other alternative way?

I used a bicycle and walked with a backpack after doing research in the local town.

You need to carry all you own heavy food and water. But if you find stuff you have to carry it out.

I used those free advertising newspapers to wrap up my crystals so they would stay safe.

It was a lot of work

Oh wow that’s great. Do you know what deserts are like here in the American southwest? You mentioned you were in Texas.

Yes, I know. I’m actually deciding what I would need to bring along. And how heavy it might be

I know. I’m actually teaching myself chemistry and geology from textbooks for this purpose actually

The monitor was around $150 AUD, and the projector was around $80. There is also a sign saying that the charities only take toys and clothes, and the rest is "illegal dumping," so it's all most likely going to the tip anyways.

I haven't sold anything yet though, I've just never gotten around to it.

In recent years I think they banned tip thrifting as well, so people can no longer take items from the site. I don't know about US laws though

There are hundreds of other people who thought similar like you and already took the most valuable loot

I used to sell rando stuff to used sporting goods stores, places that buy and sell used stuff of that nature... Some places buy used levi 501 jeans! (The rattier the better!) Record stores, try computer stores.

Mostly small.businesses! Where the owner runs the place is best. Become a fren or at least get in good with them because you'll need them again later...

But a pawn shop is the sale of last resort. They may buy it, but you won't get much for it.

Ofc, if you have storage area and knowledge of eBay/ etsy type sales..
(Photos and written descriptions) you can do great, as long as you are patent.

Selling online is the best way to profit. But there ate other ways too if you're clever

Thanks for this, bookmarked your reply.

I agree, pawn shops rip you off. I think that small local businesses would be the best option, but I may have to give marketplace or ebay a go as well.

Once I get more or a stash up from the boxes I will start to sell.

It's a good gig except for me. USA e-salers must rat you out to IRS, if you make more than $600. And that would fuck up my disability money ):

I thought of doing something like this when I was like 10

get an air tester to make sure it's safe to enter

you could be dealing with low oxygen, methane, high carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc.
