Notice how it didn't say "speak in gibberish and thou shalt be saved" or "stop sinning and thou shalt be saved" or "apologize to God every time you sin and thou shalt be saved" it just said "believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved". We are guided by faith, not by sight. Signs and wonders and gifts of the holy spirit only applied to the apostles and the early church. Read 1 Corinthians 13:8-10.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
(John 10:28)

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
(Romans 4:5)

If it says "through your works you are saved" does that mean ONLY through works you're saved?
If it says "any man that repents shall be saved" does that mean ONLY through repentence you'll be saved?
If it says "believe in Jesus Christ and you'll be saved" does that mean ONLY through believing in him you'' be saved?

This is just a few mentioned, but what I am trying to show is that through only doing one of these you will not be saved, but it extends further.
