Pretty decent though for like $250, I think it was. Very shit stats for anything but basic reading and doc editing. I use it when watch tv as my main computer is hard to move

I recommend this for poor schoolcels or very poor basic work. But if u want play games or have more than 6 tabs, or do video/photo/heavy programming, not worth it.

@Broly this one is decent for very basic programming. I don't think it will be good for job level side project programs though

2020 Newest HP Chromebook 11.6" HD Laptop for business and student, Intel Celeron N3350, 4GB Memory, 32GB eMMC Flash Memory, Webcam, USB-A&C, Wifi , Bluetooth, Wireless-AC, Chrome OS, w/GM Accessories Amazon product ASIN B08G89GKC3View: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08G89GKC3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_V05J22R3W4A9Q6CD7XZ1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I might check it out but my parents have said that they’ll buy me one for college soon:dab:

I’m still looking at potential laptops to buy tho so if you know any that are more expensive and can perform better, I will gladly take use of that info:society:
For college, better off getting a Windows one of your doing CS and plan to start grinding right away. I would say get a laptop with SSD for the faster speeds, maybe also IPS screen if you can afford it for the better viewing angles/colors, also make sure you take into account if your gonna move it around. If you think you'll move it around a lot, best off getting a 11-14 inch one over a 15-17 one. You can always get an external monitor if the small laptop screen isn't enough for home usage.

Also take into account battery life, probably 4-5 hours is needed, and the rest of the time you can charge it with a battery pack or college library maybe. GPU too if you do gaming but isn't really needed for most programming.

Finally probably get a good mouse that fits your hand, touch pads are kind of shit tbh.

Also an extra feature to look into could be keyboard, i have mechanical keyboard, as it lets me type a bit faster. although for programming you just need to hit 60-70 wpm and be at touch typing level(don't look at the keyboard and type on reflex) ideally. Don't need to be a god at it.

Also computer ports can be important in some cases. But nowadays most of the time you can adapter the problem out.

my brother has a laptop like this
Amazon product ASIN B08YKHGKTVView: https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-IdeaPad-Display-Processor-82K20015US/dp/B08YKHGKTV/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1639263876&refinements=p_89%3ALenovo&s=pc&sr=1-2

from my testing it was decent for most stuff. the ram is a bit lacking though. 16 or 32 is needed if you plan on having a game run in the background while doing school work or web browsing at times

i got a HP chromebook about two years ago with 2gb of ram holy fuck it sucked thankfully I upgraded and got a MacBook Pro with 16gb of ram.
yeah the 4gb ram is a big issue. your capped at like 5/6 tabs.

You could get a ThinkPad on ebay for less than that.

Have fun with it ig.

Will you be installing a firmware mod so you can replace the universe's crappiest OS with something decent like Debian?
Also, how much storage does it have?

32 gb. complete shit storage tbh. U can check the Amazon link for more stats. I don'plan on modding it or using Linux. This is just a simple laptop for quick typing in different rooms.

Modding a Chromebook is like, the only reason people buy one. Without modding it to give yourself a "hardware challenge", there is literally no other reason to get one.
There are cheaper laptops available with less software restrictions, allowing you to run programs, or at least try to.
They are still good for IM and forums.

I hate chromebooks because they can't run anything. Why not just get a cheap Windows laptop?

Welcome to my world! The touchpad gestures are pretty cool at least for a lazy fucker like me. Plus I don't game or need much memory so I don't really care about the specs tbh.

I wanted to see how chrome OS is.
worst OS ever maybe, it's just chrome and google's docs/excel ripoff/cloud suite on there isn't it? I dunno I haven't touched after I set one up for a boomer like 8 years ago

My school had Chromebooks so I've used them before, they're mostly to just do thinks on Google's cloud services and can't do much on their own tbh.

If I had a Chromebook or a low-speced laptop I'd go with PeppermintOS since it's also a cloud-oriented Linux distro that's super lightweight.

Chromebooks at my ghetto ass school got stolen JFL. Teachers made us check in and out when we used them.

Edge/Word>>>>Chrome/Docs

Way better layout and easier to format. I want to get into linux but I'm too lazy for that shit.

Surprisingly people don't really steal stuff in my school. It's actually a pretty decent high school even if it's in the hood.

It's easy, just download an ISO, burn it into a USB, boot into it from the BIOS settings and go through the installer.

If you plan to keep your current installation tho, you could partition some free space for the other OS or get another drive.

Instruments, books, even keyboards got stolen at my shithole school. Not to mention nobody gave a shit about classes/grades, easily outpaced most of my class despite being a brainlet.

Will probably do it if I find a cheap laptop on craigslist or at a yard sale. I finished modding my Wii, can now play foriegn SNES games on it :smonk:

I have Debian 10 on my main desktop, Void Linux on my ThinkPad, Slackware 14.2 on an older 32-bit desktop that I plan to install Haiku on, and a iMac G5 with OpenBSD.

screen is ugly as fuck. super shitty t/n panel. didn't think it would be this bad
no caps key jfl

Yeah that pissed me off at first. You can change the 'everything' key back into the caps lock but I left it 'cause I got used to the shortcut and the end key shortcut only seems to work with the original setup.

I will keep using it might as well if it has some uses tbh.

Yeah it's unsurprisingly decent for browsing. The three finger swipe left/right makes for a damn refreshing way to switch between tabs.

yeah that feature is actually very good.

probably best feature so far. Google keyboard has a similar thing which I like
for iPhone at least

Do not buy a chromebook if you want to do programming. Just get a used regular laptop, format the drive and put linux on it.

agreed tbh. it won't be able to run the heavy shit, I was just thinking it would be ok though for w3 schools type stuff. the very very basic shit.

Nah it wouldn't even be good for that either and you'd get stuck fast and end up having to replace the Chromebook anyways. Chromebooks are a super locked down secure version of Linux. For even basic stuff like simple Python or NodeJS stuff you need a regular OS.

thats one way to cope.
what will you programme, jfl with that, another calculator application , or a hello gay world.
i will ask one for the alienware r13/12

yeah I don't think it can run pychaem or visual studio or anything similar. But I did try leetcode and tried doing w3 schools syntax(not even coding really ) stuff. For that it works. for that stuff it works ok although a bit laggy. I wouldn't ever recommend this outside that very very basic stuff.

that Alienware really has a nice case tbh. Very sexy look.
i wouldnt call this a laptop, its a screen with a keyboard thats it.
yeah it's more like a tablet witha nkeyboard. And you can run android store apps, though I haven't tried any yet.b

My PC has 16gb of ram, I run 10+ Chrome tabs with ease :smonk::smonk:

I THINK my dad has a toughbook from the early 2000's though it would be in storage. He got it for his work, fucking monstrous computer.

Damn, yeah your PC can run anything. My main desktop has 4 gigs of RAM and my Thinkpad has 8 gigs.

Would it still take floppy disks?

It has decent GPU (980) yet I never utalize it beyond emulating shit.
Does it run Windows 10? What do you think about Windows 11?
I think it has a CD drive, I remember I could hardly pick it up when I was young.
That's good. If that toughbook is able to boot from CD directly, then it's easier to install a new OS if you want to.

I also bought a computer with like 4gb ram when my regular broke down jfl

I use a 270 euro Chromebook as my main machine. It has 8GB of memory, 128GB of storage and is foldable with a touchscreen.

I'm never going back to regular Windows laptops now tbh. Chromebook is a good device for just browsing the internet and writing simple documents.
Tf are you even writing down? Links to porn? Tosser :feelshaha:
