Math word problems have always been a problem for me in algebra classes. Any boys and everybody (hell even some foid whores on internet from Reddit) listen up:
We are working at packaging facility taping top of boxes with machine. The radius (or usable side length of tape at beginning of roll is 5 inches. If you take the radius at time interval of let’s say 2 hours, and let’s say it’s 3.2 inches, would that be enough to determine an estimate for how long the roll will last. Or would you need two points.
Would you use y=mx+b or is this some other formula.
Would it be a downward slope setup on a graph. There’s multiple ways to graph it and you could change the variable around (y or x) correct. How would you go about it?

Like amount of time left on x and tape rolling length at y. Or some other setup. And that would be a negative slope correct? A rate at which you lose tape.

You could make a rate with just this info, but it would be innacurate because you could find slope if you have two points

Somebody answered the question then deleted. But their answer suited me thanks haha. Was something like if machine and box rate are consistent it would be downward linear.

The next part would be if two machines were running how would that affect the formula and how you would graph it? Same size of roll or also: if one roll started shorter
