Final Fantasy is overrated

Imo mainline Final Fantasy has always felt more juvenile and cartoonish than other jrpgs. Even in the 90s when Final Fantasy was supposedly the best of the best in terms of story, other rpgs had much better stories and characters. Imo Final Fantasy is seen as the best simply because it's popular. Most of the people who claim it's the best haven't played much other 90s jrpgs.


I'd say even Final Fantasy 7 has a pretty shitty story that gets increasingly silly with the amount of plot twists shoved in.
