I dont believe this is necessarily true some people do operate for "personal gain" that also helps others such as to feel better about themselves in my world view that is a morally good action even if it is self-interested not all beliefs mean to make you meaningless that is just a condition of living in an industrial society where labor isn't as scarce as it once was and the value of labor is decreasing due to that and still these aren't all of the beliefs some generally permit the least harm to the most amount of people which you may consider a lesser evil but a lesser evil is still nonethless better than a greater evil

Difference between a communist and a national socialist is that a communist denounces its communist states, declaring that it wasn't "true communism" while a national socialist upholds that any national socialist state was true national socialism.
