All the cucks who dont understand the show and call it trash because of that just love media that their goy brains can watch without the slightest attention to whats going on.

I believe Shinji is the most realistic portrayal of a character out of any anime. Maybe thats why he is hated so much

true, shinjis character and his development was way deeper than most other mcs, hes not some op god and just a kid in a mech (which i know is obviously much deeper than a kid in a mech)

The issue is that the average anime watcher is so used to a super hero (or villain) MC who is always charasmatic, confident and hopeful that they view someone like Shinji (depressed, hopeless, has existensial crisis, defeated) as weak and pathetic. They forgot that Shinji is a 14 year old boy whose mother died early and whose father was absent, he has been bullied and outcasted most of his life and one day he suddenly gets drafted into a war and gets told he is the only hope that humanity has left. Its only natural that all that burden eventually crushes him and only makes him more depressed and isolated

exactly, same reason why people hated on ichigo during thousand year blood war because he gave up, the guy went from fighting monsters to footsoldiers of a man close to god then to fighting the son of a god, but people shit on him because hes not happy and keeps losing against gods

have u watched the movie rebuilds?

did you like them more than the og? me personally i didnt
It was different. The ending was clearer and more optimistic than the OG, but i think overall the OG series was better. Also the death of Rei Q was very sad

such depressing shit but so peak

I haven't seen it but I want to rape Asuka

I watched it as an adult and it’s pretty regular. I think most of the fandom it gets is from teenagers watching it because of the edgy and occult themes making an impact in your brain. That being said it was well written and original, I just don’t subscribe to it as some type of holy grail.

Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but I liked the characters and the writing way more than the lore (angels, impact, and so on). I didn't care about it. Because of that, I liked the original serie's ending more than End of Evangelion.
I haven't watched the rebuilds.

The OG Ending is Shinjis perspective (as they ran out of budget during the last episodes), End of Evangelion is the outside perspective. In the first half of EoE it even says episode 25 and during the second half it says episode 26

I know, and while the OG ending closes Shinji's story and his character progression, but got complaints for leaving out the main story, EoE ends the part of the story with the angels, Seele etc. that was left open in the serie, the part I didn't care about. That's why I prefer the show's ending.

i dont see them as seperate endings, i view them as complementary

Boring and overrated

true but the rebuilds suck

It is one of the only good animes pre 2000's.

Evangelion is so overrated

Describes most fandoms
Never revisit your childhood favorites:cryfeels:

Spoiler alert: she thankfully gets choked by shinji plus he cums to her, and honestly she needs worse treatment for how much shitty fucker entitled cunt she acts like. Wish her only THE WORST

whose father was absent, he has been bullied and outcasted most of his life and one day he suddenly gets drafted into a war and gets told he is the only hope that humanity has left.
This has influenced me to watch the anime as this reminds me of myself.

jus get out of ur own ass theory

Evangelion for sure is the most complex anime but ''best'' is mostly own preference. Insufferable community tho, Asuka is larped to death by 13yo foids and Shinji is hated for hella stupid reasons. But Valid take from you

Yeah, it's definitely good, but it's (personally) not my fave oldgen anime. I'll always have a soft spot for Ranma 1/2 (Tenchi Muyo is a close sceond), but I'm biased for comfy escapism anime

Probably one of the best, though personally I don’t put it on a pedestal.
On my scale it’s a 7.5/10

Things I didn’t like:
Symbolism that doesn’t have much connection to the story
Underutilized secondary characters
Bad ending
It’s a mecha :feelskek:
There’s yuri and yaoi vibes
Slow pacing
Pedantic and insufferable fandom

I was going to write why I consider it one of the best animes in history, but I got lazy

I like evangelion a lot for this 2 reasons
main character is relatable. Not some NT tall chad.
Misato and asuka are hot.

I liked the show, i remember watching like 3 episodes every night before going to bed and i loved it but shinji never had any real development. I remember how much of annoying bitch he was and even at the very end he did his stupid monologues again. Think about it, he is in a cool robot suit with teenage waifus ffs. What kind of man wouldnt find purpose in this life

90s is oldgen now jfl imagine if this gray watched gundam or legend of the galactic heroes

Most realistic portrayal of an autist which is the actual reason normalfags hate him.

Imo way too complex aswell with the hidden meanings and stuff like not everyone wants to study some anime

Tatsuhiro Sato most realistic neet portrayal

Most realistic portrayal of an autist which is the actual reason normalfags hate him.
I believe most normies would act the same as Shinji did when they would suddenly become a weapon of the government
