Don't think that is even true, if you are famous and popular they might respect that, but if all you have are the achievements but no status to go along with it they would see nothing but a little ugly nerd. Do you feel active respect for some random scientist of the past? When asked you might say yes, because it looks bad to say no, but mostly you feel nothing and don't care at all about him. If you encountered him in person, the nothing you feel for his work would combine with whatever you feel about him on a personal level (in foids' case, disgust at our looks) to a negative total.

They might mouth respect, but I would bet they feel more respect for some dominant high-T chad than for your world-changing accomplishments (for which they feel almost nothing).
