Sometimes the odd usually older woman will speak to me in a way which they'd speak to someone who has obvious "issues", but not quite how they'd speak to someone with legit down syndrome, it's like somewhere in between normal and downie speak, like how you'd expect an autistic person to be spoken to (which I am), the other day I was having a tourettes facial tic attack in the street and this older lady smiled at me super sweetly, like she would a child, ruined my mood for the rest of the day, but I've also had women smile and speak to me that way when I'm not having a tic attack so I know it's definitely my appearance mostly that makes them assume I'm "slow"
