Religions and mythologies have always been social tools - they never made sense and it's a feature, not a bug. If you get past a certain level in philosophy, you understand that at some point, irrationality is needed to make rational systems operational.

Christ.. I'm so tired of spending every day of my life pondering these kind of vagaries. I've spent my whole life doing it, and I know I will never be able to stop so long as I exist, but it's led to nothing. It's going to drive me to true insanity some day, if I let it.

Ah, I think I get what you mean. I had a friend who was pretty sure christianity was a fraud, but felt like he had to behave just on the off-chance hell was real. I can't relate to that, but I suppose a lot of people can.

But that kind of wishy-washy spiritually doesn't have a big enough effect; I'm guessing most sluts, whores, and toots believe in a god of some sort, and probably objective morality. They just believe their version of objective morality is the correct one (ie the type that best serves their needs).
