What controller do you use? And do you think having impulse triggers is important? In my budget I can either get a wired 8bitdo third party controller xbox liscenced controller with impulse triggers or a cheaper wireless option (like powera or Chinese brands) without impulse triggers. Both have hall effect. So

Xbox 360 controller, by definition the best ever designed for the task.

I agree. I use a 15 dollar wired Xbox 360 controller from Amazon. It's comfortable and works well. I've been using it to play Baby Steps and used it to play Binding of Issac with it before that.

I bought an Xbox One controller in the past but accidentally cracked the shell trying to shorten the plastic around the charge port since it only allowed super slim usb cables. It's best to stick with the old and simple.
