Tbh I believe in geography more. Africa is a shithole full of desert, dogshit soil, diseases like tsetse fly and constant flooding/drought. Before modern amenities like industrial level imports, modern medicine and chemical fertilisers you would have large regions the size of Spain with a population of only a couple million.

Food from fertile soils and pastures >>> muh gold n diamonds. Large populations and manpower is what drives civilisation, supports non-subsistence labor (innovators patronised by the rich elite, artisans, labor gangs for mass infrastructure). Precious just makes you an easy target for those advanced civilisations

And geographic conditions directly selects for certain genes and therefore determines the genetics of the population. A region constantly marred by famine will select for famine genetics, constant conflict selects for fighting success genetics

This is exactly why it’s stupid to draw a dichotomy between the two. Environment and genetics both constantly shape each other over time

Genetic determinism is a bit overblown.

Both are true, but looks still matter more than where you are born, because if you're a chad born in a third world lost cause country, you'll at least be treates nicely by those around you.

it’s a mixture of both like everyone else said but genetic is the most important if i had to choose

Why can't it be both? Life is adaptive.

I've met some giga smart Ethiopians.

Like, dudes who emigrated to the west, learned English and became respected experts and leaders in their fields.... all in a language that is foreign to them, while living in a culture that is foreign to them. I have real respect for that.

Africa is full of resources lol even basic ones like food etc… it’s just that blacks have low iq (no offense) and can’t or don’t want to use them to develop so I believe way more on genetic determinism but of course geography shapes it

Anatomy is destiny

The mongols are an example its not only geography and resources but just coming together and engaging in conquest and trade
