Acting against one's survival doesn't prove that a "free will" is real, it proves that it is possible for the brain to have altered reactions to stimuli that cause a being to act against its survival. For example, depression/suicidal ideation/majority of mental illnesses in general are simply a misregulated chemical balance in the brain which causes stimuli to be processed in a "wrong" way if looking from the perspective of a goal of survival. Regarding "useless and anti-functional things", it is a result of the brain not having evolved to avoid "inefficient" behaviour which did not cause major disadvantages during selection, or, in the case of "surrogate activities" (e.g. hobbies like football, golfing, "fishing" which is followed by releasing the catch) it is simply a replacement for when the brain does not find the expected difficulty of activities it has evolved to perform, for example hunting, gathering, reproducing, which have been mostly removed of their difficulty (you now just sit at some office job and aquire your food) and in effect finds itself "activities" to compensate for the lacking stimulation the brain has evolved to seek through natural selection, since individuals who did not have any drive to do something to aquire more did not pass their genes into the next generation (same reason why the human brain "invents" problems when someone has none left).

Acting totally against your own interest or your peer interest out of fun or stupidity proves free will is either real or the idea that everyone is deep down rooted in self preservation is total bollock.
