Discussion Do you believe Hitler committed suicide in his bunker in 1945?

I think it makes the most sense to conclude that Hitler did indeed kill himself in the end. Even if one disregards the eyewitness accounts and physical evidence, given Hitler's character and his constant criticism of the Kaiser for abandoning Germany at the end of World War I, it would make zero sense for him to flee Germany with suicide being his only real option.

I've noticed that many NS supporters today, especially Christian ones, deny Hitler's suicide and instead put forward conspiracy theories claiming that he died of natural causes in Argentina, and so on. Probably because they can't accept the moral implications of Hitler choosing suicide.

Yes. It's plausible Hitler could have fleed trying to maintain any hope he could for his cause because surrender was not an option, but the simplest answer is he knew the Soviets were coming and we're going to torture him like never seen before.

True, it is hearsay, but the CIA dismissing it does not mean much. Admitting Hitler might have survived would have basically been admitting Allied failure, so of course they would file it away and move on.

To say that he fled away from his people is to say that he was a coward. He left this world honorably, knowing there was nothing more he could do. He did not want to get humillated even after his death like Mussolini was.

As a Hitler supporter, I believe he commited suicide, Hitler preferred dying defending Berlin than the dishonor of escaping.

He wouldn't have risked being caught which he almost certainly would have been. The financial offers to hand him over obviously would have been massive.
I think he said something like he didn't want to end up as a zoo exhibit in the USSR which actually could have happened. He certainly would've got merciless treatment.
