Theory Do gay people often advertise their homosexuality mainly as a way of networking?

It would explain why many of them feel the need to advertise that they're gay, put rainbow flags everywhere, etc.

Maybe it's just a way of networking when you're a fairly small percentage of the population and especially when it's something that's normally quite private/personal.

I went on a chat room with a female user once to see what happened and not only did I get a million DMs from guys but I'm pretty sure I got multiple ones from women, too.
