Discussion Did your parents restrict what films/games you could watch/play as a kid?

This is one of the only areas I actually think my parents did good by me. I was basically allowed to watch any film/show I wanted to, and play any game I liked as a kid. So much so I was even known as the kid in my class at primary school who's parents were super chill about what films/games he was allowed.

I think this is a good thing because it mildly helps to keep the kid from growing up into a sheltered autist as an adult, even if the impact is negligible.

There was no censorship on videogames. Though there was this one time when my dad got me a ps2 and many games from his friend but removed DOA2 and DOA beach ball. I got them much later. Which is hilarious considering I was allowed to play Manhunt 2(they probably had no idea about that game). Movies with sexual content was censored but everything else from horror to gore was open game.

The problem with all this is I was not allowed to play video games or movies much. Even the safe ones. This is one thing my mom did right. I see parents letting their kids sit infront of a screen all day. Its lazy parenting and creates future incels

when i was around 14 i bought a hentai manga from a comic store and my parents found it. they paid me the purchase price and took it away from me. but i later found it where my mom keeps her expensive makeup in the closet and took it back and put it on my bookshelf. they didn't take it away from me again and in the end it was just free money for me.

other than that, there were no restrictions.

Our parents know how to raise us right only if they cared more about sports and athletics over studying for hours on end and not be such controlling narcissist freaks. I'm glad to have decent parents in that regard. No wonder they let me live rent free in their house when all of their friends kids are earning and managing family business and shit

I was never much into sports anyway. But yeah, controlling parents who don't let you socialize much or play sports are future incel factories. Its funny however that my parents allowed me to watch the hellraiser series, shit traumatized me as a kid.
