Develope your own processor

Greetings!

Have you always wanted to develop your own computer? Your own processor based on your standards? To have an uncontaminated architecture? Since 1975, when we first had affordable processors (MOS 6502), we haven't had an architecture free of illegal instructions. It's gotten to the point where we now even have Ring -2, which means that all instructions sent from your operating system to the processor are first processed in a so-called protected mode. The actual processor is hidden behind an emulation so that we no longer have full access to it. But we can change that; we ourselves have the opportunity to build our own processors. After all, any fourth-grader can build a processor core with an understanding of the four arithmetic operations. Do you want to know more? ...

This sounds like an advertisement

It is in no way simple to build your own processor.

All a processor does is add. As long as you have an understanding of the binary system and are familiar with arithmetic operations, it's actually quite easy.

If I was high IQ I would want to be an actual hardware designer, too bad that kind of job only exists in Taiwan, I think it mogs coding, witch is useless if you don't have a working computer in the first place.

All you need is to understand logic gates. For example you got 2 inputs in an AND Gate and if both are 1 the output is 1. Isn't that easy?

Sure buddy, if its so easy then anybody would do it

yep, We learned booliean functions at school + I think it's a little more complicated than that.

Logic circuits are decision making elements. It's not enough. Memory elements are needed to store a bit. D flip flops for registers and JK flip flops for counters.

Arithmetic operations are the core of a processor. No one ever said that's all it needs. Sure, memory and registers are needed to realize the full functionality of a processor, but the structure of memory is as simple as knitting.

Is the attitude of this forum as pathetic as on 4chan or Reddit? Are you men who want to achieve something, or losers who convince yourselves you can't do anything?

The theory is relatively simple to understand, but how would you feasibly make any decently powerful processor on your own without having access to specialised equipment and materials? Wouldn't it quickly become massive if you were making it using easily available methods?

There are two ways to implement a self-developed architecture: either through TTL components or SMD TTL, which would require considering buffers when planning the electrical circuit, or through programming FPGAs, which are chips with a large number of universally programmable logic gates.

FPGAs can easily have up to 15,000 universal logic gates.

So, getting the necessary hardware for this is no longer a problem. The only disadvantage with FPGAs is that you can't be sure that hidden instructions have been implemented there as well.

Edit: The PDP 8 or 11 was also build with TTL chips.

The control matrix is the core of a CPU, not the ALU. The ALU is just a calculator.

Do you even know what alu stands for?
Algorithmic Logic Unit.
That is the control matrix.
To be precise, the ALU consists of the arithmetic operations, the logical operations and the special operations which can be addressed in a group (ALU) in such a way that programming can be made possible.

It reminds me of the John varley story, "press enter."
Korean War veteran Victor Apfel discovers his neighbor, Charles Kluge, has died and bequeathed a significant inheritance to him. The Los Angeles Police Department is satisfied that Kluge has died by suicide, but a parallel investigation by Caltech computer expert Lisa Foo reveals that Kluge was hacking into dangerous, secretive government agencies that may have been involved in his death. Foo and Apfel become involved romantically as she follows Kluge's trail, exposing them to the same dangers.
Is the development of one's own computers already comparable to this?

You really are a complete retard. It's not a surprise I've worked with dozens of retards like you.

What tells the ALU when to perform arithmetic operations and when to enable and load the bus? It's the control matrix you retard. Go back to Reddit.

The tool for this is called flags.
Now your true character is coming out.
Are you a retired kiwi farmer trying to get some low cows here?

Pathetic

You give me hope that I will be rich soon living in a world full of retards like yourself. I have to keep reminding myself of this.

Building a decent enough processor is ridiculously hard and demands extreme precision equipment.

If it was so easy then Taiwan wouldn't be a big deal

You started it you miserable retard. Go ban yourself you won't be missed.

You're attitude is aggressive asking if we even know what an ALU is and trying to make out we are as dumb as you.

We come here to get away from people like you.

This thread was about collaboration, because if we unite our passions, we can achieve great things. You seem passionate about the topic, and we'd still choose to collaborate with you, but telling someone that it wouldn't be enough achieves the exact opposite. Don't you want a processor that's free of corruption? An open architecture that's simple, understandable, and adaptable?
Nothing would make us happier to find nerds who want to achieve the same thing.
To have fun together, while developing.

I dont understand how mods dont ban this obvious scam, but if you dare to post in the wrong section then hell let loose

I run Incel® processors.
If you run Intel you are a goy jewish cum guzzler
If you run AMD you are a chicom loving feminist.
If you run apple silicon you are a aids carring faggot
If you run ARM you are a dirty pajeet Indian street shitter
If you run MIPS you are a fucken autist perma virgin
