Anyway to answer your question yes splitting also known as going from white ie all good to black ie all bad or more commonly known as “being painted black” but the length of time this goes on greatly varies from BPD to BPD and probably even differs for certain people they’ve interacted with, meaning that like you said it can last for a day or days or alternatively weeks, months, years or sometimes forever as in meaning a lifetime.
Anyway in my own opinion her actual diagnosis is or should be:
Histrionic Personality Disorder (theatrical subtype) They are very dramatic basically which she is.
Borderline Personality Disorder (quiet subtype often referred to as high functioning)
Fearful Avoidant attachment style
Some form of PTSD to go with all of the above.
With a certain degree or levels of anxiety and depression to throw into the unhealthy mix for some added flavor.
She’s also a severe alcoholic in addition to being a sex addict.
