Dear car-cels, can I convert a 2002 MDX into AWD manual?

So one thing I wanna fucking own is either a SUV or truck with a manual transmission. Since early model 1st gen MDXs seem to have failing transmissions wile mine is doing better then the dying trans from my 01 crv that I fucking miss, I got curious and did googling. Well spoiler the subaru EJ transmission they talked about deosnt seem that compatible with the V6 J35A3 engine since it is... Oh I dont know the engine is horizontal but the EJ transmission is verticle... IDK what my options are. But I really wanna keep that AWD ability wile having a manual. And no one with a Manual AWD 1st or 2nd gen crv wants to fucking trade, Im kinda in limbo.

Now there is the option of doing manual FWD, I dont want that. Then again the most hardcore car job I did was replacing the rediator on my CRV. So somone please pull my virgin ass out the void so I can make my Truck-kun a manual. Keep in mind my 02 MDX uses the J35A3 engine.

I thought you meant Atomwaffen division :society:

Seems like a project that requires fabrication. Did they sell this model in a manual transmission? If not chances are that you are out of luck. I would look at Japanese models too you might get lucky. The way I see it turning a horizontal engine to work with a vertical transmission, that ain’t going to work. That’s why most awd cars have a horizontal engine with a standard fwd setup with a slightly modified transmission with a output shaft that goes to a transfer box.

there never was a mdx with a manual option but the engine it uses or mine the J35A3 can be retrofited with a Fwd manual. But I really want that AWD in a manual for shitty traction.

its extremely difficult, it probably wont fit, you'd need different transmission mounts (or most likely, have to fabricate your own) all of the electronics and shit won't work, plus you gotta put in a linkage for the shifter and a clutch pedal - which will require hacking apart the interior, cutting holes in the floor, etc

to mount the trans to the engine, you will need a flywheel, clutch, throwout bearing, thrust bearing, and all related bolts. And it all has to go together perfect cuz it will be spinning rapidly

plus engine probably has to come out entirely so you have space to attach them, so you'd have a ton of shit to unplug plus need the lifting hardware to move it

overall its not easy especially on any car even semi-modern
