Christianity is Gnosticism.
Voegelin called modernity Gnosticism. Christian cuckservatives thus package Christianity as the solution to the fight against the wicked Gnostic-modernity (a term so chaotically defined that it encompasses virtually everything conservatives dislike: humanism, feminism, socialism, etc.) , to reverse a corruption that occurred at some point in time and restore a golden age before that corruption, regardless of whether that corruption started at the French Revolution, the Reformation, or the Renaissance.
But this corruption does not exist. The golden age is fake. There is no moment in time when a "conservative" Christianity suddenly or gradually turned into a "progressive" Gnosticism. Christianity is Gnosticism. The humanism, socialism, feminism, and such that conservatives dislike are all natural developments of certain elements within Christianity itself.

- Humanism: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mark 2:27).
- Socialism: The early church as recorded in Acts — regardless of the historical accuracy of that account (Acts 2, 4).
- Feminism: The vagina's victory over the phallus is the natural result of the Christian ethic: the weak overcoming the strong.
