ford's v6s were very confusing

they had the 3.8/3.9/4.2 OHV essex
they had the 2.8/2.9/4.0 ohv/4.0 sohc
they also had the 3.0 ohv vulcan
the dohc yamaha v6 for the taurus SHO

oh and the later duratec/egoboost, plus the 300 inline 6

OHV fortunately. i don’t wanna deal with the timing chain problems especially with the chain in the back of the engine and the jackshaft where the cam used to be for the ohv

yea I’ve noticed that in myself and other guys how being autist can make you strangely obsessed with all the mechanical parts of different cars and the numbers and advantage/disadvantages

Those chains were wild how they did that. Looks like something a german manufacturer would do lol. OHV engines converted to OHC were always weird like that

I never got the point of SOHC. Larger and more complex than OHV and you've still only got 2 valves. at least with DOHC you get 4 valves for more top end power

Mid-late 2000s Audis (I think the s4 and s5) had timing chains which were an engine out job if you needed to do them lol
