Berserk anime (1997) is so underwhelming if you've already read the manga tbh

-It's missing some important characters (Puck, Wyald, etc.) because they couldn't fit everything in 25 episodes
-Choppy animation with lots of still frames
-Pacing feels slower than the manga
-The violence and sex is way toned down
-You already know what will happen so the ending is not that impactful

The best things are the OST and that since it's Berserk the story is still good, but if you've already read the manga it's not very worth it. Entertaining but it's still just an inferior version of the source material.

It feels like one of those anime that you'd rate 9/10 if you watched it knowing nothing about the story which is probably what happened to normies who say it's awesome.

It was so hilarious to see. Mad eme feel old though, I've known about it for so long that I just assumed most anime/manga fans did as well.

It happens during the Golden Age arc of the manga I think, the first few chapters had him hunting demons/Apostles on his own.

I did see the anime first before continuing Berserk via the manga, but this was some years ago so I don’t remember the exact chapter the rape happened

I thought the animation was good for its time and I thought the art was good as well, but perhaps I just have very low standards, lol.

But yeah obviously they leave out some parts because it's a really to gruesome since it used to be aired on television (I think only in Japan)?
