So I've decided to start this discussion since self-preservation is usually considered to be present in individuals with a high IQ, but most normies consider it as cowardice.
As a kid I used to avoid danger at all cost. My gut would tell me not to do that dangerous move to impress or fit in with the "cool" kids. I was both afraid and cautions and knew the dangers of trying too hard.
Children my age would break their arms, legs all the time. I have never broken a single bone due to my cautious nature. I have never purposefully endangered my life. I've had many chances to "prove" myself and do retarded things with the rest of my classmates, during kindergarten but never really volunteered to do something that may potentially hurt me.
I wonder whether it was a genuine fear due to bad genetics or an estimated potential outcome.
