It's really only interesting if you are into illegal drugs, child or JB porn, have radical libertarian or socialist political views, or an academic interest in security and intelligence. There are numerous ways to use Tor hidden services independently though, for example creating a secure encrypted link to a home system for accessing it during travels. It can also be used as essentially a primitive in numerous security oriented protocols. Most of these use cases are interesting primarily to people with interest in security and/or doing technically advanced things that can make use of security properties.
I mean there are also carding forums and things like that, but there really wasn't that much interesting content on hidden services.
