Me, the oldcel has never understood what anime is about. I was never into the Japanese soyboy aesthetics of it, but as for the content on the other hand, I don't know as I never read it. Maybe some anime comics are quite frankly really good, I just have no idea.
What I miss are the intelligent, at times profoundly perverse "adult comics" of my youth, of which there was a big wave in the 80's - a culture that seems to have died out entirely. Nowadays, the only thing left seems to be variations on the superhero theme, with idiots fighting and punching each other the whole time. Or else it's just straight up porn, following the stereotyped dramaturgics of analog porn to the tee.
Like Lady Death for instance, a comic that is lusciously drawn, but despite being set in Hell, is just another superhero comic with nothing but punches and swordfights in it. I mean, wtf.
If there is anything I'd like to ban, it's not anime, but sexy female comic protagonists running around with flaming swords and guns blazing. I hate seeing women with weapons, larping as men, tbh.
