Nah i disagree about your reasons, anime adds animation that gives nice flow to the combat sequences that are always dogshit in manga you can't see what the fuck is going on since everything is white and black, music also enhanced the experience. However story and depth of characters and dialogues will suffer in 90% of the cases in favour of mangas. Visual novels are best of both worlds you can have very deep story with many hours of dialogues and even different routes but you can also have music and animations.

Anime adds unnecessary animation most of the time. It depends on the manga, if we are talking about a shit manga then sure, the anime's animation will be worthwhile to understand what that one paper frame meant, but when it comes to chainsaw man, the manga is truly good enough and doesn't need animation. In chainsaw man the way it is drawn, it gives more goosebumps than the anime.

I never read visual novels tho. Isn't it just a LN with representations of the characters and places?

I think that's because we are socially stunted, that anime can make us feel so many things, as you age you start realizing that and you go into over analysis mode, and sometimes feel disconnected to the scene. Which is why I'm starting to favor reading to watching even if it's poorer.
