COVID 19: The Great Reset by Klaus Schwab
I wanted to purchase this book as memorabilia. After looking into it, I think Schwab's PR is nightmarishly bad, but there were ideas on the great reset facebook page that were interesting. Is it worth a read?

I just finished Call of the Wild by Jack London and Antigone by Sophocles. The former was a great story, and the latter was quite underwhelming. Spoiler: in the end of Antigone everyone commits suicide. A drunken hamster could've seen it coming.

yeah it's not too long of a read and describes his essential ideas, I just pirated an epub and read it from my kindle tbh. His fourth industrial revolution books also describe the potential he sees in ultra accelerated globo service tech and other shit.

This thread is to discuss books: Either those you have read, will read, wish to read, or recommend others to read.

Enjoy!
For the Relations between man and woman (in sure someone has put this one already) definitely read Schopenhauer's "On women " essay or definitely Weininger's "Sex and Character"

Mussolini's intellectuals A. James Gregor
Doctrine of Fascism Benito Mussolini, Giovanni Gentile

Learning about history of interwar peroid Italy also will help understand fascism better as it's ideology that, as Mussolini puts it, was created out of need for action. The people that gathered at Piazza San Sepolcro, on march 23 1919 came from various diffrenet backgrounds and held different views. They gathered in Mediolan to seek solution outside of right-wing or left-wing to criss that Italy was experiencing after war world I.
Also Gentile's view of Fascism is highly intellectual and based on philosophy, which doesn't really represtents Mussolini's views or movment as a whole. Notably, Mussolini's views were heavy influnced by italian socialism, in which he used to participate.

Thank you!

What I'm looking for are books on the philosophical underpinnings of Fascism, not about Mussolini's applied version. I'll start with these recommendations.

Fascism doesn't really have philosophical underpinnings per se, it wasn't created by intellectual effort, it was born out of necessity in time of criss and as ideology, it's anit-intelectual. Only after 1922, fascism as ideology had a luxury developing more elaborate and intelectual thoughts. Overall, fascism is a complex phenomena, It isn't as codified other ideologies, so you may came to different understading of it than I do, also there is a more or less problem of definiton and categorization, should we extend the name fascism to other similar movments in Europe or should fascism be understanded as italian phenomena.

Merchants of Sin - Benjamin Garland

Explains how the Jewish used their influence to spread pornography into the west, in order for men to willingly bust nuts, thus lowering the testosterone levels across the nation and causing them to become docile and easy manipulated.

Not a Fascist myself, but I can point you to some great resource texts for understanding what Fascism is, from the perspectives of actual Fascists themselves (most of these were written either by Giovanni Gentile, Benito Mussolini, The P.N.F. or one of its' organs):
  • The Doctrine of Fascism, Benito Mussolini (This is a most complete outline. Start here and work your way down the list.);
  • 'Program of the National Fascist Party' (1921)
  • 'The Manifesto of Fascist Intellectuals' (1925)
  • 'The Charter of Labour' (1927)
  • 'The Manifesto of Race' (1938)
  • 'The Manifesto of Verona' (1943)
And some miscellaneous papers, probably written and published by the P.N.F. or one of it's organs (I could not find the publishing dates or authors for these, sorry about that):
  • 'The Diary of Will'
  • 'Truth and Lies About Fascism'
  • 'The Philosophy of Fascism'
  • 'The Catcheism of Race'
For a TL;DR, or if you want everything in one to two books, you can also read these, which of course were compiled and published by the P.N.F. from 1938-39:
  1. 'The First Book of Fascism' (1938)
  2. 'The Second Book of Fascism' (1939)

Thank you for the reply, I will check these out!

Also I think it was you that mentioned a philosophical project.
On principle I am against collectivism, but if you want to chat about philosophy I'd be happy to. Unlike others it seems like you've maintained a shred of optimism/proactivity.

If you like high fantasy fiction, I recommend reading the Lord of the Rings, Sword of Shannarah, The Wheel of Time, The Rover series, and the Belgariad.

IF you like mind bending horror, I recommend H.P. Lovecraft. :feelsjuice:

I love Haruki Murakami. My favorite book is written by him which is Norwegian Wood. I'd highly reccomend it.
Isn't that a book where protag has a bunch of sex? I don't know if I could stomach that.

Meditations
Crime and Punishment
Man and His Symbols

Pascal is pretty good too tbh
I liked "Thoughts"
Got stuff in there that tells you no matter how good you think you are, you're still just a vain pos compared to this universe you know jack shit about, and that you should do what's right not based on your own judgement but with morality
Some people would need to read that imo

FUCK MAN I WISH I KNEW THE NAME TO THIS DAY.

There was this book where a girl was scared and were settling in a new house in the forest and it was dark.

Superb book, it's horror.

There was like a tree and a dog, brother, umm they father found someone's body in the fountain and the 6th and 7th floor were all full of ghosts it was awesome.

I have no hope of finding it ever again and this makes me sad, they were good times I stayed up late read them all night long

I'd always read Enid Blyton's Famous Five series. I used to like them, still do enjoy reading them but there are tons of lies in that book and I despise Enid Blyton for those lies.

Books were good themselves.

Nope and I won't let them say a word, dude why are you this keen? The hate is a joke. Take it as a joke. May it remain a joke.

2018 was an extremely intellectually stimulating year for this community. The people all seem to have written so much.
