I guess I'll have to watch the 2011 anime, to see more of the story. I'm almost done with watching Season 3 (1999) in Japanese sub, however, the quality of the video is terrible.

I agree, the 1999 animation was superb. The 2011 version, was made less for artistic-quality and more just to have an animated finish to Gon finding his dad.

The beginning until the York New City arc was perfect. Season 3 was boring as hell.
The manga is great, but the creator became very ill and has had to take multiple hiatuses in the last decade.

The first two seasons of the 1999 anime were superb, I had a nice time watching them. Hisoka is a very cool character, so is Chrollo.
