I am not sure where this ideology started. That virginity is a very important thing that should be lost. It is sad to see it so deeply ingrained into society, I cannot imagine how many younger persons will go to school and be relentlessly bullied over it. Younger women would feel pressured to rush themselves, and younger boys will feel horrible when they do not lose it. Then, if someone were to rush something that they may regret, they would feel horrible afterwards. My brother's son recently got into trouble after meeting with someone on Grindr because he was obsessed with losing his virginity. He is currently undergoing counseling because it was a very bad experience that he now regrets.
