Has anyone else with anxiety issues found this that when people say you should relax, they mean really specific, rules-based behaviours like meditating or jigsaws or something.

They never mean just... chilling out. Messing around. Not taking life so seriously. etc.

And that's how I personally relax I think.

They want you to act neurotypical

Yeah maybe. It's like they relax in an active way, if that makes sense. It has to involve a focused, structured activity. Like a yoga class or some photography on a walk or something.

But for me typically I think relaxation involves doing less. As I say just chilling out or messing around.

But when I do that, I am told that I'm lazy and that it's bad.

I really think that if I'm going to get over my anxiety, I need to be able to ignore or distance myself from them saying that, and just live how I want to live.

It's like I learned that I need to be go go go and always trying to do things. But it really is ok to "just live".
