If you work hard, put your 100% efforts into work they dont care about it. If you are intrverted especially with social anxiety, you will be put first on the list to be laid off. However if you dont work at all but talk a lot and very social, you will be promoted and given good salary. I have worked in too many places to notice same trajectory.
