Zero chance this escalates into anything resembling "world war 3". The only way that could happen is if Russia and/or China retaliated. Russia is already in a war, and if they're struggling this much in a war with Ukraine, I think they know they're in no position to challenge an actual superpower. China isn't going to do anything either. The CCP is very strategic/calculating. Iran was an ally of theirs but not the most important geopolitically. So while this is a very minor blow to them, this certainly isn't the hill they'd be willing to die on (maybe Taiwan would be).
Ultimately this is just going to be another american conflict in the middle east. We've had plenty of those already.
