Spider-Man refuses to save Aunt May’s life in order to save New York City. While I despise my mom, I wouldn’t sacrifice her even if it would stop the nuke from the Avengers. I’d probably look for a third option that would allow me to refuse to save both of them. However, assuming in this hypothetical I had a good mom like Parker, I sure as hell wouldn’t throw her under the bus to save some NYC NPCs.

How about Geralt allowing Ciri to sacrifice herself to stop the White Frost? If I had a daughter, I wouldn’t sacrifice her for anything in this material world, especially not to save soyciety. My spawn remaining alive is a bigger net benefit for the world than 99% of the population.
