Men were usually killed (or had little to no path to personhood if taken as slaves), so we had to learn to commit – to a tribe or to an idea. Whereas women were usually taken as sex slaves, and concubinage was a very real path to status, so this biological safety net incentivized them to learn to integrate into the winning group rather than prioritize loyalty/purity
