Seriously it's ridiculous and pathetic how they always have to point it out it any post slightly related to guns kek. "Such good trigger discipline, have my updoots :soy::soy::soy::soy:", "this movie has bad trigger discipline, immersion ruined :soy::soy::soy::soy:". The only times I've fired a gun (a shotgun in a shooting range) not even the instructor mentioned trigger discipline because unless you have negative IQ your instincts (and common sense) tell you to not put your finger on the trigger with a loaded shotgun until you're going to shoot. It's not something that needs training or any kind of knowledge like reddit tries to make it look like.

edit: thanks for the gold kind stranger

IMO it's more artful to be less blatent about it and just hint at it and see if anyone notices and then nobody does and you realize nobody on the forum has observation skills or experience or thinks about this shit.

I disagree with you, and I'll explain.

It's a simple enough issue to not INTENTIONALLY put your finger on the trigger or INTENTIONALLY aim it at someone.

The reason however why one should obsess about it is due to the risk of unintentionally doing these things (by accident) when you are focusing on other shit.

Fingers can take on a mind of their own grasping objects as you adjust your grip or focus on other things.

Fixated as I was on keeping the weapon oriented in a proper direction, during my firearms training I actually fucked up and aimed it away from the downrange target in the last step while placing it in the storage box, for example.

Instructor said that's common and he has gotten 'flagged' (barrel pointed at him) by someone while they're doing ACTS/PROVE steps like checking the feed/chamber/barrel for obstructions and so forth.

You build habits like these for redundancy, because if don't constantly think about it there's a possibility that when I'm ogling the bore I might do something stupid like slip a finger into the trigger and then some squib goes off and people think I an-heroed

They learned about it once on a tv show and want to flex their “knowledge”. Reddit is filled with over compensating losers

Reddit is home to some serious badasses who have mastered the ways of the warrior. A true hero respects and serves women and cares only what's best for THEM as that is the path to wisdom.

Redditors flex their knowledge based on soys from youtube. You would be surprised, people who have zero knowledge about firearms hold the finger on the trigger and point the gun at each other, look at these housewives holding the guns like babies.

When reddit and trigger appear in the same sentence, guns are the last thing that comes to mind.
