I personally have never watched it (apart from Pokémon when I was a kid). It was never very big growing up in Norway and the few people that watched it were kind of pariahs.

It seems to be way bigger in the US but still has that reputation of being associated with lonely/incel/virgin men.

So what is it about anime that appeals to that demograpic? Is it just the busty anime girls or is there some kind of theme that resonates especially with "losers" and "nerds"?

Anime isn't just one thing it is simply animation produced in Japan which consists of original works or adaptations. I don't think its a matter of it being better but more like its just ALLOWED to resonate with people and has spread everywhere not just incels. An incel would enjoy it because the average person would enjoy it. They don't really have competition for anime especially in the west because here we seem to hate all things animated and look down on them which is why we always churn out live action stuff or if we do animate something it is usually targeted towards kids and has god awful production quality. Where as anime doesn't care at all and produces anything of varying quality. So really in my opinion its not that its superior its more just a numbers game and if you're some lonely male you'd probably enjoy watching some escapist thing that doesn't talk down to you or is ashamed to be fun.

Yeah I've never personally seen the appeal either. But I can understand why people like it - not all animes are faggotry like what you've described from what I've been told but the majority I see always are. Not for me. I prefer my suffering raw.

I like cartoons. Some anime is okay. Just animated shows or movies in general I like a lot.

It helps me with escapism, and it takes a lot of realism away so I don’t think about black pill shit while watching IRL actors

The main theme of anime is basically that lesser men need some kind of miracle or superpower to make it, it's a pipe dream for striving incels.

Power fantasy. In an anime the protagonist is usually a generic or loser dude, who in essence could be you. This dude by some twist of fate/luck gets together with pretty girls and starts doing amazing things.

This in reality, is a pipe dream. You either are born chad and lucky or not. So it's really nice, to see a false mirage of what could have been. Those are some of the reasons people may watch anime.

For me, i always had problems that were unsolvable in nature. But by playing games and watching anime, i saw how protagonist overcame difficulties and that was a relief and something nice that would not happen in reality, you watch that and think 'how nice it would be'

Anime is made in the Japan, where the incel crisys is more advanced, so there is going to be more Anime aimed at us, with a loser protagonist, for example.

With that said, no all Anime is the same. There are all sorts of Anime.
