Theory Why do so many zoomers constantly speak in a monotone voice?

>"NOOOO you can't make a generalization about a group based on a pattern you've noticed from your own observations and interactions with that group!"
>Also you can't come to a conclusion about a group based off of multiple studies that come to the same conclusion because....YOU JUST CAN'T, OKAY!?
I suppose you have a point sorry lad :feelshehe:
I will retract my statements :feelsstudy:

Being on the spectrum to some extent + lack of IRL interactions during developmental years.

Idk I guess it's cause they're depressed or something

Millennials are like this as well

It’s normal.

I dunno. I reckon it's because of TikTok and whatever. It's not autism (I am diagnosed autistic and I don't do this).
Plenty of autists do though, people can have different symptoms.

Its cause they wanna sound "nonchalant"

Only in 1st world and Japan. In 3rd world zoomers still behaving like gen x doing something stupid and loud

Let me guess you're a Millennial.
Gen Z did not get the best lot in life. No generation was raped as heavily by the bluepill as Gen Z, among other things. Even accounting for all that the brightest among Gen Z are as dull as drywall. It is exactly like you say: so many of Gen Z are soulless, there is just nothing going on behind the eyes of them. Look at how much more Zilennials have achieved in comparison to Gen Z despite being only slightly older. Gen Z do not produce anything, they are just NPC consumers. Because they are not conscious they will not achieve anything, Gen Z will end up being a completely inconsequential generation. My impression of Gen Alpha is that far more of them appear to have genuine interests in things. They are also growing up in a far better time socially and technologically. It is impossible to predict how much better they will be than Gen Z, but I am sure that they and future generations will achieve far more things than Gen Z. That is not to say that future generations will solve the blackpill, the blackpill is eternal. But they will be better. My perspective is based on being Gen Z myself.

Very early zoomers (the ones born in 1996 to 1999) which are on the end of the zillennial years) are the absolute youngest demographic I can speak to and not feel like I'm communicating with someone from a completely foreign and distant culture. Even then, most are pretty introverted and terminally online, but some of them actually have a semblance of social skills and a hint of a personality that isn't obviously completely derivative of internet discourse/memes/brainrot. That's a lot more than I can say for core gen z and onwards.

While I'm around zoomers (and generally core zoomers) all day, I don't personally have any experience around gen alpha.

I have seen some videos of middle school teachers talking about gen alpha, and everything they have to say about them is deeply negative. Basically every video of a middle school teacher talking about what it's like boils down to "I can't enforce discipline, my students have zero attention spans and can't read at grade level and every batch of new students is worse than the last".

We're also talking about a generation that starting using ipads before they could even read or write...so I'm not quite sure why you think they're going to grow up to be any better than zoomers are. Is there something I'm missing here?

Is there something I'm missing here?
Yes, the majority of Gen Alpha and beyond will indeed have just as poor life skills, social skills and general knowledge as Gen Z if not worse. But I am not talking about the majority, I am talking about exceptional individuals.

I do not have any personal experience with people from Gen Alpha either online or offline, but I have noticed a select few of them involved in online spaces for serious creative interests. The types of interests where the majority of people are Gen X or Xennials, with only a few millenials and zero members from Gen Z.

The advantage of the 2020s internet when it comes to learning things is that everyone is now on it. It is possible to freely learn what was once trade secrets and even contact people who are experts in a field directly. A select few members of Gen Alpha seem to take advantage of this, but no members of Gen Z.

In our lifetimes I expect us to witness a fair amount of achievements from Gen Alpha and beyond in both STEM and entertainment, but almost none from Gen Z. Gen Z are all knuckle-dragging idiots who do nothing but scroll TikTok.

i read your post in a nonchalant monotone voice btw

They simply ran out of dopamine to be able to say anything emotional.
Social media, TikTok, junk food, foid, masturbation...

Classroom of the elite must be one of the many animes funded by the state of Israel.
this fucking "idc I'm emotionless I'm bored and above it" stereotype is fucking gay as lgbt fags are.
I mean it was good for like the first or second time it popped in Japanese works, but it got abused and milked to deformity.

They're autistic or trying to be autistic ("nonchalant")
Maybe they are trying to be nonchalant I dont know.
Its cause they wanna sound "nonchalant"

So I think you guys are on the money here. I think it makes sense too. Younger zoomers, the ones around age 18 currently, grew up in the era of "ragebait". So it makes sense they developed this "personality" as a defense mechanism. Just like cringe culture turned a lot of gen z into ironybros, ragebait turned a lot of gen z into these weird nonchalant larpers. Except they've been doing it so long it seems to come naturally to them. Like an acquired accent.

I also think its partially due to just a lack of social interaction and being terminally online in general. Even beyond the whole fake nonchalant stuff, my coworkers really lack basic social skills. I'm sure this is a generational problem, not just with my coworkers and other zoomers i've observed.

I've actually been thinking about making a thread about Classroom of the Elite for a while now because I think I have a somewhat unique take on it.

But yeah, the whole kuudere archetype has been run into the ground in anime a loooong time ago. Evangelion came out 31 years ago and even Rei Ayanami wasn't the first kuudere in anime, she's just the character that popularized it. Ayanokoji is basially just Lelouch if he were a generic kuudere instead of having magic eye powers.

the whole kuudere archetype.
Thanks for using the right term weebcel. most mainstream manga characters became presets which the mangaka picks. lazy and inconsistent writing made it difficult for me to read more mangas.

Shieett bwoiiiiii

Neurotypical zoomers have completely normal speech and facial expresions from my experience though we communicate less than previous generations, also here in Eastern Europe live is still a little more normal than in the Anglosphere

i have a monotone weird voice due to my immense autism + i sound like a gigakraut which amplifies this

I have aspergers and i do this although it's gotten better

Maybe they don't want to show emotion because it's like showing vulnerability. Maybe they don't want to lower their guard, especially in front of someone older and presumably more experienced in reading and manipulating emotions.

Population decline means that the average zoomer is mostly surrounded by older people. Even worse if the zoomer is an only child, or if there is a large age gap between siblings. As someone who's always been "the youngest by far" in my family, I can say that people would mostly interact with me just to mess with me, just to play on my obliviousness and to see my reaction when they tricked me. So I learned that people have an agenda, a hidden motive when they approach me. So I developed a kind of distrust, especially towards older people. To avoid being made fun of, I learned not to show emotion and to keep my responses laconic. Keep my "self" hidden and only show a generic NPC side.

Maybe it's a similar thing for zoomers. Though it would only be one of many factors, if at all.
