You can play on keyboard and mouse. It is still fun. I used to fly a helicopter and do random landings in iraqi deserts pretending to drop off a seals squad.

A plane is like, low speed (stall) = low control, drop to ground.
Helicopters don't stall (not sure if that's right word) like planes. Pulling insane vertical AOA would make helicopters lose control. That's why even GTA games only let you pitch slightly forward/backwards
Games like Arma lets you do vertical circles (with fair altitude) which is not realistic, you can see how goofy it looks.

I find jets cool in video games but they are all very slow to fly around. Wish they made them realistic.
